Just before the Christmas break, we honored the teachers and leaders who were selected by Pointe Coupee Parish School Board as Teachers and Principal of the year. Our district is filled with many great educators, which made this process difficult to choose from! We appreciate these hard workers who dedicate their lives to educating the young minds right here in Pointe Coupee and we cannot wait to see how they do at the state level!

Reminder: The State Department of Education deems a child truant if they miss more than five days without an excuse. Parents are allowed to turn in 5 "hand written" notes per semester to excuse a child's absence. These are days that are not excused by a doctor's note. The school system has created a form in an effort to assist you with this. Go to the home page of our website and click on Parent Note Template for details and to submit your child's parent excuse. Do you know that STEM students can earn Silver or Gold Seals to add to their highschool diploma? Do you know that your child's ACT score determines TOPS? Do you know which universities will take each level of TOPS? find out more here:
https://mylosfa.la.gov/students-parents/scholarships-grants/tops/
The District will sponsor several ACT prep courses this year. You may want to talk to your child about the importance of that composite score for College and Dual Enrollment. Students must earn a 19 in English and Math to take DE courses in high school. Univerisites will only take TOPS Opportunity, Performance, or Honors- which is a composite of 20 or higher. Be sure to help your child get the score they need for college and TOPS money!
