Pointe Coupee Parish Schools Begin Week Two Following Successful Start to the 2026-2027 School Year
District celebrates a strong first week of classes as administrators continue campus visits and support for students, faculty, and staff
NEW ROADS, La. – August 19, 2026 – Pointe Coupee Parish Schools are celebrating a successful first week of classes as students, faculty, and staff move into week two of the 2026-2027 school year.
Students returned to campuses across the parish on Monday, August 10, following faculty and staff's return the week prior to prepare classrooms and finalize plans for the new year. Throughout the first week, district administrators visited every school in the parish, checking in with principals, teachers, and support staff to make sure each campus had the support and resources needed for a strong start. Mrs. Amanda Fontenot, Supervisor of Head Start, spent time at Rosenwald Elementary, Mrs. Tiffany Davis, Literacy Innovation Coordinator, was at Livonia High School, Dr. Latoshia Victorian, Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance, visited STEM Magnet Academy, Mrs. Brandi Forbes, Chief Academic Officer, was at Rougon Elementary and Junior High, Mrs. Dawn Albert, Supervisor of Exceptional Student Services/504, checked in at Upper Pointe Coupee Elementary, and Mrs. Tabitha Ransom, Supervisor of 21st CCLC Program, was at Valverda Elementary.
"Our first week back was everything we hoped it would be, classrooms full of energy, teachers ready to teach, and students excited to learn," said Superintendent Kim Canezaro. "I had the opportunity to visit every school in our parish and see firsthand the hard work our principals, faculty, and staff put into welcoming our students. As we move into week two, I could not be prouder of how our schools came together to start this year strong."
"Our first week showed exactly what our teachers and students are capable of—engaged classrooms, strong instruction, and a genuine excitement for learning from day one," said Brandi Forbes, Chief Academic Officer. "Our academic teams worked closely with principals and teachers all summer to make sure instruction could start strong, and it showed across every campus this week. We're excited to build on that momentum as we head into week two."
As Pointe Coupee Parish Schools move into week two, district administrators will continue their campus visits, working alongside principals, faculty, and staff to build on the momentum of a strong opening week. The district remains focused on providing a supportive, well-equipped learning environment for every student across the parish throughout the 2026-2027 school year.
