The Office of Federal Programs Initiatives hosted a successful Flying Classroom Family Engagement activity on Thursday, May 7, 2026, bringing together students, parents, staff, and community partners for an evening focused on hands-on STEM learning.
The event drew strong participation, with seats filled by families eager to take part in STEM expeditions. Parents and students were actively engaged throughout the activity, and several parents continued working even after the event officially ended. The excitement and participation reflected the community’s commitment to supporting student learning beyond the traditional classroom.
Special thanks are extended to Tabitha Ransom for introducing the district to Flying Classroom and to Franchesca Gordon Seiferth for organizing the event. Appreciation is also given to Modern Woodmen for providing parent resources and information, and to Redstraw for supporting families with food and donations for the students.
The 21st CCLC staff assisted with registration and helped ensure the event ran smoothly. The district was also grateful to welcome Daphne Flentroy from the Louisiana Department of Education, who surprised attendees with a visit and provided technical assistance.
The Flying Classroom Family Engagement activity was a great success for Pointe Coupee Parish families. The Office of Federal Programs Initiatives looks forward to offering more opportunities that connect families, students, and community partners through meaningful educational experiences.
