Livonia High School is proud to recognize Annina Amaguas (“Teacher Wells”), a second-year AmeriCorps member serving on the Livonia campus, who has been named a 2026 Volunteer Louisiana Champion of Service. The award was presented by Volunteer Louisiana and Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.
The Champions of Service Awards celebration highlighted the meaningful impact of service across Louisiana. Speakers reflected on the spirit of community felt throughout the state, sharing that “community, we felt it everywhere we went” and that “these awardees represent the best of Louisiana.” They also praised honorees for continuing to serve with compassion and dedication, noting that “they kept going, they kept caring, they kept making a difference.”
Annina’s service is rooted in helping students feel welcomed, supported, and connected. Through daily relationship-building and a commitment to student belonging, she has made a meaningful difference in the lives of students at Livonia High School.
One student shared, “She has helped me feel more comfortable at my school.”
Livonia High School is grateful for Annina’s leadership, her dedication to students, and the positive example she sets through service. We also extend our appreciation to all AmeriCorps members and volunteers who continue to serve Louisiana communities with care, commitment, and purpose.
