The Pointe Coupee Parish School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Alisa Brown as Assistant Principal of Livonia High School. With more than three decades of service in K–12 education across multiple states, she brings a deep commitment to student success, instructional excellence, and collaborative leadership.
Mrs. Brown’s appointment as Assistant Principal of Livonia High School was officially announced at the school board meeting held on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Superintendent of Schools Kim Canezaro and Principal Dr. Rosie Courville formally made the announcement on behalf of the district and the school.
Mrs. Brown is an accomplished educator completing her 34th year in K–12 education, beginning her journey with a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary education with a minor in mathematics from Texas A&M University. She later earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in reading from Louisiana State University Shreveport and holds multiple certifications, including ESL, gifted, and Pre-K–8.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Brown has taught in five states, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Louisiana, serving students from kindergarten through seventh grade in gifted education, resource, and general education settings. She has extensive experience in math, science, technology, and literacy instruction, with a strong focus on differentiated learning, problem-solving, and discovery- and inquiry-based approaches that meet the needs of diverse learners, including many ESL students from varied cultural backgrounds.
In addition to her work in the classroom, Mrs. Brown has led and piloted curriculum initiatives in math, science, technology, and ELA across multiple districts and has designed district-level curriculum and instructional programs. She has served as a lead teacher, mentor, and instructional leader in Pointe Coupee Parish, East Baton Rouge Parish, Texas, and Nevada, and has facilitated professional development in technology, math, and literacy for teachers and staff.
Mrs. Brown’s leadership extends to coaching and administrative roles, including service as a professional development coach supporting districtwide instructional improvement in Pointe Coupee Parish and as a gifted and talented coordinator overseeing programming and student services in East Baton Rouge Parish. She has also worked as a literacy mentor supporting multiple schools and leadership teams, and she has served as an interim principal and school test coordinator.
Beyond the school day, Mrs. Brown has led student enrichment programs such as Odyssey of the Mind and Destination Imagination, secured and managed grants, and organized teacher training in collaboration with administrators on school improvement efforts. She has been active in school leadership teams, PTA, and community engagement initiatives, and has mentored preservice and new teachers in Nevada, Texas, and Louisiana.
Mrs. Brown is excited to bring her experience and passion for teaching and learning to Livonia High School and looks forward to partnering with students, families, faculty, and staff to support academic excellence and a positive school culture.
