High School Promotion Requirements

On August 25, 2016, the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board approved the district’s revised PPP. Please be aware of the following:

  • All school systems are required to utilize a uniform grading system for students enrolled in grades K-12 for which letter grades are used. The grading scale is as follows:
    • 100-93=A
    • 92-85=B
    • 84-75=C
    • 74-67=D
    • 66-0=F
The Pointe Coupee Parish School System shall use the following standards for promotion for students in 

In order for students in 

  • Cannot miss more than 6.5 unexcused school days per semester.
  • The system shall utilize the following for high school classification based on earned Carnegie units:
    • A 9
    • A 10
    • An 11
  • Credit toward high school graduation for high school students may be earned through correspondence work (virtual classes) in accordance with Bulletin 741 standards.
  • Secondary students may earn credit toward graduation from a vocational-technical school in accordance with Bulletin 741 standards.
In addition to completing a minimum of 24 Carnegie units of credits, the student must pass the English Language Arts 

  • The Algebra 1 EOC Exam will be administered in 9th grade or in 8th grade to students enrolled in Algebra 1 coursework.
  • The English Language Arts II EOC and the Geometry EOC shall first be administered to students in 10th grade.
  • The English Language Arts III EOC, Biology, and U.S. History components of the EOC shall first be administered to students in the 10th or 11th grade in alignment with the class schedule.
  • All EOC Exams may be offered at differing timelines as determined by the Principal and the schedules of courses.
  • Students with disabilities identified under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act shall be eligible for waiver if the student meets all other graduation requirements and is able to pass two of the three required components, and if the DOE review determines the student’s disability significantly impacts his/her ability to pass the final required EOC component.
