Livonia High School Welding Team Exhibits Skill at High School Craft Competition

On April 17th, five welding students from Randy Jarreau’s class convened on the campus of Associated Builders and Contractors in Gonzales to participate in the High School Craft Competition. Team members included: Cade Garafola, Cameron Garafola, Ricky Paul, and alternates Colby Bergeron and Fausto Mejia.

These young men participated in an array of activities that tested their welding skills.

Safety judges observed them during the practical exam which included tool safety and proper use of personal protective equipment. They also took part in a written examination.

The LHS Welding Team placed 2nd overall with their superior welds. Senior Cameron Garafola, who competed in the V Groove category and as an individual welder, placed second out of sixty welders from seventeen parishes. He was awarded a grinder and an assortment of welding accessories.

The goal of the ABC High School Welding Craft Competition was to give everyone an opportunity to win and, most importantly, to have an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Good, clean competition and friendship among competitors were truly encouraged.

The faculty and staff of Livonia High School commend these young men for their hard work and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
