Rougon Teacher Encourages Students to Read and Examine Future Pathways

Seventh graders in Ms. Elsea’s class spend time independently reading a book or magazine of their choice on a daily basis. At the end of each book, students give a book review or talk. This exercise provides students an opportunity to offer a book star rating of 1-5 and a recommendation to their peers.

Ms. Elsea’s 8-A class was given a career interest inventory survey. The information received from this type of survey benefits students and their parents by allowing them to learn about future career opportunities based upon personal interests. Furthermore, students are able to obtain accessible information regarding scholarships to a university or a trade school.
