Promotion Requirements

On August 25, 2016, the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board approved the district’s revised PPP. Please be aware of the following:

  • All school systems are required to utilize a uniform grading system for students enrolled in grades K-12 for which letter grades are used. The grading scale is as follows:

    • 100-93=A

    • 92-85=B

    • 84-75=C

    • 74-67=D

    • 66-0=F

The Pointe Coupee Parish School System shall use the following standards for promotion for students in grades K-12. Students not meeting the requirements for promotion will first meet with the Student Intervention Team (SIT) to determine readiness for promotion. The Student Intervention Team will consist of the teacher, principal/assistant principal, leadership team member, and parent/guardian. The School Building Level Committee (SBLC) may review promotion recommendations if the SIT team determines that additional services may be required for a student.

Internet Safety Education Plan

Teachers are required, by law, to present "Internet Safety" lessons each year. An Internet Safety Education Plan has been developed by the Pointe Coupee Parish School System that is designed to meet the requirements of the law and to give our students the knowledge that they need to stay safe while using the Internet. The lesson plans that will be used are provided by a nonprofit organization called Common Sense Media.  ( ) The purpose of these lessons is to create an online awareness about personal safety, cyber bullying, and social networking.

An outline of the Internet Safety Lessons that must be taught at each grade level is provided on this webpage. The outline also includes deadlines for when lessons must be taught (deadlines correspond to the end of nine week periods). The procedure that all teachers must follow is as follows:

1.  Review outlines below and decide when you will teach each lesson.  Include the name of each lesson in your Oncourse lesson plans so that you have documentation that the lesson will be taught.

2.  Teach the lesson.

3.  After each lesson, complete the online certification form to certify that you have taught the lesson.  To access the online certification form, click on the button below.
