On Thursday, March 16th, Rougon Elementary held its history fair in the school’s gymnasium from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Parents were invited to attend the annual event to view the numerous student projects. Third graders created posters about Louisiana, while fourth and fifth grade students designed posters regarding historical figures. Middle school students prepared posters and reports that they presented to a panel of judges. The judges included teachers, administrators, and staff from the school board office. The theme was “Taking a Stand” and students were asked how their person/topic related to the theme. It was evident that the students gained knowledge from their cross-curricular, project based learning activity. The winners were:
● First Place: William Davis with America and the Cold War
● Second Place: Laraijha Hebert with Wilma Goldean
● Third Place: Wyatt Darensberg with the Battle of Little Bighorn
The faculty and staff are proud of the time and effort these students spent on their history fair projects.
