Students in Mrs. Olinde’s 6A class were able to see how the agricultural industry impacts the engineering designs of Ford trucks. Using Discovery Education, the students took a virtual field trip to Dearborn, Michigan and were able to witness the processes involved with creating a vehicle and the collaboration between different departments.
The students applied the skills of design and collaboration during the week of January 16th by creating their own vehicles for a unit on forces and motion. Cars were designed individually, then groups worked together to come up with the best design. The vehicles were tested and results were recorded. Students then discussed ways to improve their designs to achieve more distance. Cars were redesigned and retested.
