On Monday, December 11, 2017, Pedaling 4 PE cyclists and a team of national Online Physical Education Network (OPEN) trainers rolled into Rosenwald Elementary. Rosenwald was one of the schools selected as a stop on the Pedaling 4 PE bike tour, a four day, 400 mile bicycle ride intended to spread awareness about the importance of physical education in schools.
Students in grades first through fourth were treated to an OPEN PE lesson taught by the national training team. OPEN is a free physical education curriculum that celebrates and promotes physical education and health in rural areas. These events are sponsored by EatMoveGrow and US Games and provide rigorous, outcome-based curriculum tools for physical education teachers to help their students. As an added bonus, Rosenwald’s PE Department received $500 in equipment.
