ELECTRONIC TELECOMMUNICATION DEVICES

 

 

No student, unless authorized by the school principal or his/her designee, shall possess, use, or operate any electronic telecommunication device, including any facsimile system, radio paging service, mobile telephone service, intercom, or electro-mechanical paging system in any elementary or secondary school building, or on the grounds thereof during regular school hours, or in any school bus used to transport public school students.  Additionally, camera phones with video and/or still photography capabilities, voice-recording capabilities, or future technological improvements and/or equivalent equipment may not be used unless authorized by the principal or his/her designee.  A violation of these provisions may be grounds for disciplinary action, including but not limited to, suspension from school.

 

Electronic telecommunication devices may be left in personal vehicles.

 

The School Board shall not be responsible for any electronic devices, including cell phones, lost or damaged while on School Board property.

 

Nothing shall prohibit the use and operation by any person, including students, of any electronic telecommunication device in the event of an emergency.  Emergency shall mean an actual or imminent threat to public health or safety which may result in loss of life, injury, or property damage.

 

Consequences

 

  1. The electronic telecommunication device will be confiscated and held by the school administration until the student’s parent or guardian retrieves the device or until the student has completed his/her disciplinary consequence.

  2. The student shall be assigned to the Saturday School for possession of a prohibited electronic telecommunications device.

OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES

 

Students are not allowed to use the following electronic items during class time:  non-school related electronic devices including but not limited to iPods, disc players or game devices, etc.

 

Consequences:

 

Non-school related electronic devices will be confiscated if they are used in class.  Confiscated electronic items will only be returned to parents at the discretion of the administration.
