STUDENT TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT REGULATIONS

 

 

The Pointe Coupee Parish School Board requires the Superintendent or designee to establish and maintain appropriate regulations governing the student transportation programs.  Provisions of the student transportation program shall include at least the following:

 

  1. Bus turnarounds established by the Board shall be properly maintained by the Board provided the cost of repairs does not exceed $450.00.  Should the cost of repairs exceed $450.00, said request for repairs shall be referred to the Building and Grounds committee for disposition.  Contracts with property owners for use of turnaround space will be initiated and continued.

  2. A record shall be maintained of all buses that are delayed in route or out of service because of mechanical problems.

  3. Students shall not be transported from locations outside of their home-school attendance zone except those students attending special schools approved by the Board, due to Majority to Minority or School of Choice transfer policy or a request is submitted to and approved by the Superintendent and/or the Board.

  4. Bus transportation shall not be provided to students residing on nonpublic roads.  Students who live on nonpublic roads will have a nearby designated stop assigned.

  5. All school bus drivers are to abide by Louisiana State laws and Bulletin 119, Louisiana Student Transportation Specifications and Procedures.

  6. All owner/operator bus drivers shall be required to complete a pre-service training workshop annually and attend quarterly updates as scheduled.  This training program will consist of:

 

 

INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS/FIELD TRIPS

 

The Pointe Coupee School Board recognizes the need for transportation for athletics and other events.  In an attempt to provide students with the affordable transportation needed to enjoy and benefit from these activities, any bus driver serving respective schools of this Parish will, upon request for such transportation by the school's principal, be expected to provide transportation for at least one trip during each semester for an extracurricular event at the mileage rate set forth by the Board.
