SPECIAL SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

Thursday, August 20, 2015

 

 

The Pointe Coupee Parish School Board met in a special session on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at 337 Napoleon Street in New Roads, Louisiana 70760.  President Frank Aguillard, Jr. called the meeting to order at 6:38p.m.

 

Board members present were: Chad Aguillard, Frank Aguillard, Brandon Bergeron, Leslie Grezaffi, Bobby Jarreau, and Thomas Nelson.

 

Board members James Cline and Anita LeJeune were absent.

 

Central Office Staff in attendance were:  Superintendent Kevin Lemoine and Stephen Langlois.

 

Mr. Frank Aguillard, Jr. led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America.

 

Mr. Kevin Lemoine was requested to offer the invocation.

Consider Approval of Architectural Contract.    Mr. Stephen Langlois, Chief Fiscal Officer, stated the AIA Document B101-2007 Contract Agreement between the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board and Mougeot Architecture, LLC is on BoardDocs for review.  Mr. Langlois stated the Architect’s fee is 10%.

 

Mr. Thomas Nelson made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Leslie Grezaffi to approve the Architectural Contract Agreement between the Pointe Coupee Parish School Board and Mougeot Architecture, LLC, for the project named Pointe Coupee Parish School Board – Pointe Coupee Central High School Renovations. 

 

Yeas:    Chad Aguillard, Frank Aguillard, Brandon Bergeron, Leslie Grezaffi, Bobby Jarreau and Thomas Nelson

Nays:    None

Absent: James Cline and Anita LeJeune

 

The motion carried by a 6-0-2 vote of the Board.

Discussion and/or Action Regarding Scope of Work for Property Formerly named Pointe Coupee Central High School.Chief Fiscal Officer Stephen Langlois reviewed the renovation scope of work for the proposed STEM Academy on the property formerly named Pointe Coupee Central High School.  Mr. Langlois provided a Schedule for Documentation Report indicating start, duration and end dates, with the final project completion date being August 1, 2016.   Initially, the STEM Academy will accommodate students in grades 6, 7, 8, and 9, moving up to 10th   and down to 5th grade the following year, etc. Superintendent Lemoine announced that curriculum for Project Lead the Way will begin. Mrs. Leslie Grezaffi inquired about the size of the restroom facilities for elementary school age children.  Approval of the scope of work tonight (August 20, 2015) will provide substantial completion perhaps allowing move in by the 1st part of July. Superintendent Lemoine announced there are only four Facility Planning Architects in the State to approve Capital Outlay Projects, and Mr. Jim Lee has been assigned to Pointe Coupee; state regulations must be followed.  Mr. Brandon Bergeron asked about contingency days.  Mr. Chad Aguillard stated he is more than confident this Superintendent has a vision for the school; however, the community needs to be engaged to give them an overview regarding the academics.

 

Mr. Thomas Nelson made a motion, seconded by Mr. Chad Aguillard, to approve the scope of work for the STEM Academy Renovation, regarding the property formerly named Pointe Coupee Central High School, as provided by Mougeot Architecture.

Nays:    None

Absent:  James Cline and Anita LeJeune

 

The motion carried by a 6-0-2 vote of the Board.

President Frank Aguillard entertained a motion to adjourn.

 

 

Adjournment. Mr. Thomas Nelson made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Chad Aguillard seconded the motion and the meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
